Sara Rebecca Beach, 32, of Fort Wayne died November 5, 2018 in her home. Our family is broken to share that our beautiful “Sis” is no longer living with us here on earth. Sara’s death was unexpected, yet the possibility of it had been lingering near us for many years. Sara suffered long and hard from addiction fueled by her mental illness which was difficult to manage, although she tried. It was a combination of these two things that ultimately ended her life.

We do not want Sara to be defined by her last moments on this earth or by the struggles of her life. Our hope is that you see her for who she truly was. Sara was more than addiction and mental illness, so much more. Sara was a daughter, sister, aunt and friend. Our Sis should be remembered by her generosity and loving heart. She did not pass someone in need on the street without emptying her pockets to them. She did not witness anyone, friend or stranger, feel cold without literally giving them the coat off her back. Sara spent the last months of her life caring for her grandmother and showing her love and patience by playing games, sharing meals and head rubs with her daily, all which helped to give Sara a greater purpose. To know Sara was to have a true glimpse of unconditional love. She loved her family so deeply and saw only the good in each one of us no matter what. Her parents stood by her with unwavering support and love through many trials and Sara loved to be with them both. She was so proud to be a big sister to her brother and sister, and regardless of the situation, her amount of love for us was never questioned. Sara brought life to any room with her big brown eyes, imitations, rapping, dancing and her love for attention. Her spirit was wild and all she wanted was to love and to be loved. She most enjoyed playing with her nephews and niece and she spent hours in pretend play eliciting belly laughter and genuine happiness from them.

Loving Sara was like loving the inconsistency of the weather. There were days you ran for cover from the storm and days you had to force yourself to go inside because you never wanted to leave her bright and warm sunlight. We choose to remember Sara by her bright and warm days. Sara did not lose a battle against addiction and mental illness, rather Jesus took this battle from her and she is now resting comfortably in His arms. We don’t know exactly how to live life without you Sara, but we do know that for the first time in your life your mind, heart and soul are all at peace.

“God is in the midst of her; she shall not be moved; God will help her when the morning dawns.” Psalms 46:5

Sara is survived by her parents, Timothy Beach and Maryalice Beach: her grandmother, Margaret Windle; her siblings Bruce Beach and Allison Bratten (Josh Bratten); her nephews Jackson and Hudson Bratten, her niece Olivia Bratten and many aunts, uncles and cousins. Sara is predeceased by her grandparents Richard Windle, Jack Beach and Betty Lee Beach, and her uncles Bruce Beach and James Jones. Sweet Sara, our “Sis” you will be so greatly missed by us all.
