Lawrence L. “Larry” Davis, 83, of Fort Wayne, died Saturday April 20, 2024, at Park Place Senior Living. Larry was born in South Bend on December 17, 1940, the son of (the late) Ralph and Sophie (Bogucki) Davis. He earned his Bachelor’s and Master’s Degrees from the University of Notre Dame, and on August 18, 1962, Larry married Karen (Johnson) Davis, who preceded him in death on October 15, 2017. He worked at Lincoln Life for 15 years in the Reinsurance Dept., which allowed him the opportunity for travel; he had visited 31 countries and was fluent in Spanish. He spent 14 years teaching Spanish in various area schools and assisted in creating their Spanish Depts. Larry was an advocate for Alzheimer’s Disease research. He was the Elite Grand Champion Fundraiser for the Walk to End Alzheimer’s in Fort Wayne. He enjoyed playing golf and he retired as the former owner of Auburn’s Town Tavern and Four Corners convenience store at Clear Lake.
Larry is survived by his daughters; Patricia Davis of Fort Wayne and Cheryl Ann (Mark) Sherbondy of Angola; his grandchildren, Michael Davis, Joseph Davis and Madison Davis, all of Fort Wayne, Sherylyn Sherbondy of Fremont, Benjamin Sherbondy of Indianapolis and Joshua Sherbondy of Bloomington. In addition to his parents and his wife Karen, Larry was also preceded in death by his son, Gary Davis in 2023.
Funeral Services will be held at 11:00am Thursday, April 25, 2024 at Divine Mercy Funeral Home, 3500 Lake Ave. with visitation from 10-11am. Visitation also on Wednesday from 5-8pm at the funeral home. Burial in Greenlawn Memorial Park.
