Anne Marie
Bracht
May 20, 1929 – May 30, 2025
Anne Marie (Voirol) Bracht went to live with her most Heavenly Father on Friday, May 30, 2025. She was a loving mother and grandmother.
Born on May 20, 1929, to Francis and Gertrude (Mordhorst) Voirol, in Fort Wayne; she would later attend Most Precious Blood Catholic School through the 8th grade.
After graduating from Central Catholic High School in 1947, she began working at Wayne Home Equipment Co., North American Van Lines, and Fruehauf Trailer.
She met her sweetheart Lloyd Bracht, in high school; they married in 1952 before he entered the Air Force. Upon his return from Korea, they moved from Fort Wayne to Huntington where they raised 8 children. She worked as the secretary to the Dean of Students at Huntington College for 16 years, retiring in 1991. They were members of Saint Mary Catholic Church.
After returning to Fort Wayne, she became a member of Most Precious Blood Catholic Church and then she joined the choir at Saint Peter's Catholic Church.
She played viola for several years with the Fort Wayne Philharmonic, and 23 years with the Community Orchestra at IPFW. She enjoyed traveling to Germany, England and Austria with the Sounds of Hope Orchestra. They traveled to Europe every year as goodwill ambassadors from the United States. She spent three summers at the Interlochen Center for the Arts in Michigan.
She enjoyed traveling to Canada, Mexico, and Saudi Arabia, also.
She was the lady who planted/tended the "State Street Garden" for quite a few years at the corner of Spy Run and E. State Blvd.
Other hobbies of Anne's were ice skating, sewing, playing accordion, organ and harmonica; she also enjoyed stamp collecting, listening to classical music/opera, dancing and working on jigsaw puzzles. She never lost her love of steam locomotives.
Anne greatly enjoyed spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren! She always had wisdom to impart to them.
In her later years, she lived at Saint Anne Home in Fort Wayne.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Ron Voirol; sister, Marilyn Wegenka; and her husband, Lloyd.
Anne is survived by her brother, Glenn Voirol; children, Sharon (Tim) Bryan, Jane Vaught, David (Kathy) Bracht, Annette (Alan) Mann, Daniel (Shari) Bracht, Michael Bracht, Lawrence Bracht, and Paul (Lisa) Bracht; 15 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.
A Funeral Mass will be Celebrated on Thursday, June 5, 2025 at 11 a.m. at Saint Peter's Catholic Church, 518 E Dewald St., Fort Wayne with calling from 10 a.m. until 11 a.m. Calling will also be Wednesday, June 4, 2025 from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Divine Mercy Funeral Home, 3500 Lake Ave., Fort Wayne. Burial will follow Mass at Catholic Cemetery.
Memorials may be directed to Saint Peter's Catholic Church and the Saint Vincent Depaul Society.
