Anne Overmyer Laurie, age 53, from Fort Wayne, passed away on Monday April 13, 2026. Anne was born in Fort Wayne on December 16, 1972. She was the daughter of John Eugene Overmyer and Shirley Anne (Johnson) Overmyer. Anne graduated from Leo High School, Class of 1990 and went on to earn her bachelor’s degree from IU/PU Fort Wayne in 1994. Anne was a devoted mother, cherished sister, loyal friend, and a deeply loved presence in the lives of so many. Her passing leaves a void in the hearts of her family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing her.
Anne’s greatest joy in life was her family. She was the proud and loving mother of Edie Anne Laurie, Kate Elizabeth Laurie, and John Alexander Laurie (Xander). She poured her heart into raising them with love, compassion, and generosity. She lived a life centered on kindness, service, and grace. Anne had a remarkable way of making people feel welcomed, valued, and cared for. She built deep relationships everywhere she went and gave of herself generously in countless ways. At Canterbury School, she chaperoned international trips, created costumes for school plays, served on the Advisory Board, and volunteered her time wherever needed. She also was very involved in giving back to those less fortunate. She volunteered at the Fort Wayne Rescue Mission and helped prepare and serve food weekly for residents and the community members.
One of Anne’s greatest passions was cooking. She had a thriving catering business where she would cook for many families and companies throughout the Fort Wayne area. She loved gathering family and friends around the table, preparing meals that made everyone feel at home and cared for. Her warmth, hospitality, and generous spirit created community wherever she went, and those lucky enough to know her will always remember the comfort and joy she brought into every room.
Anne is survived by her beloved children, Edie (19), Kate (18), and Xander (16); her siblings and their spouses: Patrick (Cathy) Overmyer, Mike (Jenny) Overmyer, Kathleen Wiley, Andy (Kathy) Overmyer, Tom (Cindy) Overmyer, Father Jack Overmyer, Molly Overmyer, Rosie (Juan) Carrillo, and Sharii (Jeff) Bestman. She is also lovingly remembered by Jorge (Diana) Navarro, who became like a tenth sibling to the Overmyer family after joining them as an exchange student from Colombia. Anne is further survived by many cherished nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends.
Anne was proceeded in death by her parents John Eugene Overmyer (93) and Shirley Johnson Overmyer (86).
