Obituary for Anthony A. Nellems

June 7, 1972 – February 7, 2025

With deep sorrow, we announce the passing of Anthony A. Nellems, who departed this life on February 7, 2025. Born on June 7, 1972, Anthony was the beloved son of Vivian A. Higgins and the late Rev. Johnny Nellems Sr.

Anthony was a man of strength, determination, and unwavering love for his family. He had a passion for boxing, a sport he pursued professionally, demonstrating his resilience and dedication both inside and outside the ring.

He leaves behind a loving and devoted family, including his forever wife, Deshannon Sheffield, and his cherished children: Shannon Murphy, Jamarcus Sheffield, and Breylin Sheffield. He was also a proud grandfather to Brooklynn Sheffield, whose life he touched deeply.

Anthony's memory will forever be treasured by his mother, Vivian A. Lee, and stepmother, Kim Nellems. He is also survived by his brothers: Danny (Paulette) Nellems, Johnny Nellems Jr., Vernon Nellems, Marcus (Whitney) Nellems, Bryan Nellems and Keith Holman, as well as his sisters: Valerie Higgins and Johnah Nellems.

In addition to his immediate family, Anthony leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and dear friends who will continue to celebrate his legacy and the impact he had on their lives.

Anthony's presence was larger than life, and his kindness, wisdom, and strength will be deeply missed by all who knew him. While we mourn his passing, we also celebrate the love, laughter, and memories he leaves behind.
