Arthur W. Garringer, 96, of Fort Wayne passed away October 14, 2023 at home. He was the son of David and Faye (Money) Garringer. Arthur graduated from Portland High School in 1944, and married his high school sweetheart on Nov. 23, 1946. He was a WWII Air Force veteran. Arthur was Vice President and Treasurer of Wayne Hardware Co. retiring in 1994. He enjoyed scouting and camping with his 6 sons and collecting matchbook covers, stamps and other hobbies. Arthur was a member of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church and Knights of Columbus. He is survived by his six sons, Michael (Teresa) of Ossian, Mark (Donna) of Markle, Frank (Linda) of Auburn, Matt (Londa), Martin, and Andy (Marcia) all of Fort Wayne, 14 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren. Arthur was preceded in death by his wife of 65 years Edna, 1 sister and 4 brothers. Mass of Christian Burial will be 11 am, Saturday, Oct. 21, 2023 at Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church, 10700 Aboite Center Rd. with calling one hour prior. Calling also 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 pm Friday, Oct. 20, 2023 at Divine Mercy Funeral Home, 3500 Lake Ave. with the Rosary at 1:30 pm. Entombment with military honors in Catholic Cemetery, Fort Wayne. Memorial contributions may be made to Saint Meinrad Archabbey.
