Barbara Jean Cramer, 85, of Fort Wayne, Indiana, passed peacefully into the arms of her Lord on April 30, 2026. She was born on October 21, 1940, in Fort Wayne, Indiana, to Melvin and Josephine Wright. She graduated from Central Catholic High School. On December 10th, 1960, she married Donald Cramer of Lima, Ohio, beginning a devoted partnership until his passing. Barbara is survived by her children: Rebecca (Cramer) Beaver, Kevin Cramer, and Gary (Wendy) Cramer and her grandchildren: Casey Beaver, Christina (Nina) (Chris) Singleton, Ashton Cramer, and Zoe Cramer; and several great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews who brought her great joy. Barbara is also survived by her sister Beverly (Dominick) Tucci. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Donald, and her brothers Thomas Wright and Robert Wright.
Barbara dedicated much of her professional life to serving others through her work with the State of Indiana, where she assisted veterans and individuals seeking employment. Her work was more than a job, it reflected her deeply rooted compassion and her lifelong desire to help those in need. She retired in 2010 at the age of 70, leaving behind a legacy of service and kindness.
Barbara found joy in music, dancing, and the holidays. She cherished time spent with her family and friends and enjoyed shopping trips, especially to Macy’s. She had a deep love for the music of Elvis Presley, Nat King Cole, and Frank Sinatra, and she never missed an opportunity to enjoy an episode of The Golden Girls.
Barbara was a faithful parishioner at Most Precious Blood Catholic Church in Fort Wayne, where her faith guided her life and strengthened her through all seasons. In her later years, Barbara showed remarkable strength and resilience as she battled Dementia. She spent the last seven years of her life in Memory Care at St Anne Home and Retirement Community.
Services for Barbara Cramer will include a visitation from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM on Thursday, May 7, 2026, at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church, 4916 Trier Road, Fort Wayne, Indiana 46815.
Mass of Christian Burial will follow the visitation beginning at 12:00 noon in the church. Interment will follow at Lindenwood Cemetery in Fort Wayne.
Preferred memorials are requested to St. Mary’s Soup Kitchen and St Anne’s Rehabilitation and Nursing Home.
