Barbara (Barb) Ann Hohman of Fort Wayne, IN passed away peacefully at her home on December 9, 2024, surrounded by her family. Barb was born in Fort Wayne on October 14, 1946 to Philip and Mary Bogdon and grew up surrounded by her extended family in a close-knit Romanian-American neighborhood. She graduated from Central Catholic High School in 1964 and went to work for the phone company. Barbara married the love of her life, James Hohman in 1969. They were married for 54 years and had two children and five grandchildren. Barb worked for many years as a merchandiser for book and magazine companies and retired in 2020. Barb was best known for her friendliness, kind nature, and fantastic sense of humor.  Her children remember "quick trips" to the store that took hours because she seemed to know everyone and always stopped to talk.  In her younger years she loved to bowl, golf, and travel to military reunions with her husband.  She prepared countless dishes for funeral meals at her church and was a beloved volunteer at school activities at St. Jude.  In later years she joined card clubs, went to swim classes with friends at the YMCA, and enjoyed spending time with and spoiling her grandchildren.

Barb loved her family and deeply cherished her Romanian heritage.  She loved to gather with her brother, sister and other family members before holidays to make traditional Romanian dishes.  In later years no family gathering was complete until Barb walked in with the placinte (Romanian doughnuts).  She hosted holidays, played countless games of dominoes with family and friends, and made everyone feel at home and welcome around her.

She is survived by her children, Christina (Gregory) Brinker, Douglas (Jeanne) Hohman; grandchildren, Hannah, David, Madeline, Dean, and Vivienne; sister, Mary (Larry) Imel; and her nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her husband, James Hohman; parents, Philip and Mary Bogdon and her brother, Phillip Bogdon.

A Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday December 21, 2024, at St. Jude Catholic Church, 2130 Pemberton Dr, Fort Wayne, with visitation beginning at 9:30 a.m. Visitation will also be held from 4-7 p.m. on Friday December 20, 2024, at Divine Mercy Funeral Home, 3500 Lake Ave, Fort Wayne.
