Benjamin Joseph "Ben" Kurtzweg, 21, of Fort Wayne passed away Wednesday, September 18, 2024.
He was born on March 28, 2003 in Fort Wayne to Eric and Maureen "Missy" (McCarthy) Kurtzweg.
Ben was a 2022 graduate of Bishop Dwenger High School and a Junior at Trine University where he was studying Actuarial Science. He was also a fraternity brother with Kappa Sigma.
He was working as an Intern for Medpro Group.
In his free time, Ben enjoyed anything sports, rafting with his cousins, and loved to spend time with his friends, and especially loved his siblings and family. He was very studious and loved school. But he will be most remembered for his strong faith, regularly attending daily Mass and participating in Adoration. Ben was always looking to lead friends and family to Jesus. He was an Altar Server for more than 10 years. Ben was recently honored to lead part of the National Eucharistic Procession through Michigan City.
He is survived by his loving parents, Eric and Missy; siblings, Austin Kurtzweg, Sister M. Emmanuel Kurtzweg, OSF, Renate (Drew) Guise, Ethan Kurtzweg, Monica Kurtzweg, and Erica Kurtzweg; maternal grandparents, John and Helen McCarthy; and nephews, Thomas Guise and Carter Guise.
He was preceded in death by paternal grandparents, Gerhard and Renate Kurtzweg.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday, September 27, 2024 at 11 a.m. at Saint Vincent DePaul Catholic Church, 1502 East Wallen Road, Fort Wayne with calling one hour prior. Calling will also be held from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Thursday, September 26, 2024 at Divine Mercy Funeral Home, 3500 Lake Avenue, Fort Wayne with the recitation of the Most Holy Rosary at 7:45 p.m. Burial will follow Mass at Catholic Cemetery.
Memorials may be directed to Masses to be celebrated in Ben's Name.
