Obituary

ELIZABETH "BETH" ANNE MYERS died on April 20, 2025, surrounded by family. Born March 11, 1942, in Fort Wayne, she was the daughter of William and Marian (Rippe) Imler. She graduated from Concordia High School in 1960 and attended Lutheran Hospital School of Nursing, graduating in 1963.  For over a half-century, Beth worked as a caring and committed registered nurse in a variety of settings, spending much of her career at Parkview Memorial Hospital, all the while juggling the care of four children.  Nursing was not just a vocation for Beth but a ministry.  She could often be found offering medical advice and support to neighbors and friends, or during urgent calls from family members.  She spent significant time providing care for ailing parents.

Beth was a long-time member of Holy Cross Lutheran Church.  For many years, she served at Worship Anew, both as a board member and volunteer.  Beth was an artist, and she delighted many with her creativity, from elaborate birthday signs and emails, to masterfully sewn and crocheted clothes and projects, to exquisite floral designs which could be found on the set and in the lobby of Worship Anew, at weddings, class reunions, and in her home.

Beth cared deeply about and for her family. She was a cheerleader, advocate, fan and supporter of her children and grandchildren, trying to never miss the plethora of their concerts, sporting events, performances and sermons (made easier by Zoom).  She was a dedicated Colts fan, and each Sunday during the NFL season was like Christmas. Most importantly, Jesus was the center of Beth's life; so it came as no surprise that she left this earth at sunrise on Easter Sunday, one of her favorite holidays, to celebrate with the heavenly chorus.

She is survived by her beloved husband of 28 years, David Paul Myers of Fort Wayne; four daughters, Mary (John) Smith of New Castle, Anne (Brett) Nelson of Chicago, IL, Sarah (Richard) Prohl and Susan (Mark) Kannenwischer, both of Westerville, OH; two step-sons, Scott (Kathryn) Myers of Fort Wayne, and Joel (Lisa) Myers of Los Angeles, CA; sister Lynn Coolman of Fort Wayne; 17 grandchildren, Emily (Max) Paul, Sarah Grace Smith, Nate (Maddy) Smith, Rachel (Joshua) Fridley, Anna (Luke) Martin, Elson Smith, Jonah Nelson, Peter Nelson, Eloise Nelson, Benjamin (Jennifer) Prohl, Ethan (Kirstin) Prohl, Abigail (Michael) Williams, Laina (Ryan) Ott, Ryan Kannenwischer, Austin Myers, Trinity Myers, and Lauren Myers; and 10 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, former spouse, James Stalder, and constant companion, Sweetie Pie. She had fond memories of growing up surrounded by beloved grandparents, aunts, uncles and cousins, including her dear grandmother Ada Rippe, and many caring friends.

Funeral service is 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 26, 2025, at Holy Cross Lutheran Church, 3425 Crescent Avenue, Fort Wayne, IN with visitation beginning at 9:00 a.m. Memorial contributions to Worship Anew, Concordia Lutheran High School or Holy Cross Lutheran Church.
