Betty J. Jehl, 98, formerly of Fort Wayne, died Wednesday November 20, 2024 in Grace Village at Winona Lake. Betty was born in Decatur on March 23, 1926, the daughter of (the late) Charles F. and Agnes (Meyer) Starost. She married Herbert C. Jehl on February 4, 1948 and he preceded her in death on February 12, 2001after 53 years of marriage. Betty was also preceded by her siblings; Dick Starost, Eileen Zurbuch, Jim Starost and Lois Baumgartner.

Survivors include her children; William (Barbara) Jehl of Escondido CA, Karin (William) Key of Frederick MD, John (Vicki) Jehl of Rome City, and Lorraine (Ronald) Forks of Warsaw; grandchildren, David (Tiffany) Jehl of Ft Wayne, Janne-Marie (William) Geibel in CA, Nick (Amy) Jehl in CA, Jessica (Josh Larimore) Jehl of Ft Wayne, Leah Key of Chicago, Brian (Lara) Key in MD, Jennifer (David) Dailey of Nappanee, Erik (Julie) Forks of Leesburg, Marie (Shane) Bradley in MI, Calbert (Anna) Forks of Nappanee, Annie (Mayson) McCoy of Tippecanoe, Grant Forks of Warsaw, and 19 great-grandchildren with 3 more currently "on the way".

Betty was a member of St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church; she retired as the manager of Falstaff Credit Union after 25 years with the company. Betty was devoted to her family and possessed a spirit of kindness that was apparent to everyone she met. She was a good wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend, who will be dearly missed. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:30am Saturday November 23, 2024 in St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church, 4916 Trier Rd. with visitation from 9:30-10:30am in the church.
