It is with significant sadness that we announce the passing of Robert A. “Bob” Farnbauch on June 16, 2026, at the age of 94.
Bob was born on May 9, 1932 in Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio to Leo Farnbauch and Anna (McGraw) Farnbauch. Bob was an accomplished three-sport athlete at Akron St. Vincent’s High School and received an academic scholarship to the University of Notre Dame. Bob graduated from Notre Dame in 1954 with a degree in accounting. Shortly after graduation from ND, Bob began his career with General Electric in the fall of 1954 as a management trainee. Bob’s career at General Electric was interrupted in 1955 when he was drafted to serve in the U.S. Army. Bob graduated from Army Intelligence School at Fort Holabird in Baltimore, Maryland and served two years in Army intelligence. On May 5, 1956, Bob married Agnes Houk, his beloved wife of 56 years. Bob is survived by his children, Mark Farnbauch (Renea), David Farnbauch (Marianne), Ann Ginder (Brian) and Mary Roemke, his grandchildren, Matthew Farnbauch, (Natalie Alcantar), April Finley (Lucas), Jennifer Lamont, (Robert) Jack Farnbauch, (Sara) Julie Farnbauch, Drew Boyd, (Connor), Sidney Roemke, Justin Ginder, (Morgan) and his great grandchildren, Lily Farnbauch, Ella Farnbauch, Martin Lamont, Samuel Lamont, Eliza Lamont, George Farnbauch, Louis Farnbauch, Oaklee Boyd, Olive Boyd, Miles Ginder, Jude Ginder, Mackenzie Ginder, and Nicholas Ginder. Bob was preceded in death by Agnes Farnbauch and his grandson, Joshua Ginder.
Bob served in multiple high-level financial analyst positions during his 35 year career at General Electric’s specialty motor operations. Following his retirement from GE, Bob served as a volunteer at the Red Cross. Bob was a Fort Wayne Elks member and was passionate about golf, Notre Dame sports, traveling, working around the house as well as spending quality time with Agnes, his children, his grandchildren and his many friends. He prepared (and carved) a turkey with stuffing every Thanksgiving that was to die for. Bob was a devout Catholic and a member at St. Charles Borromeo Parish since 1966. He never wavered in his trust and faith in the power of prayer.
We invite friends and family to join us in celebrating Bob’s life. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated in St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church, 4916 Trier Road in Fort Wayne on Monday June 29, 2026 at 10:30am with visitation beginning one hour prior. There will be a Rosary service on Sunday at 4:30 p.m. and visitation from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Divine Mercy Funeral Home Lake Avenue, 3500 Lake Avenue, Fort Wayne. Bob will be laid to rest at Catholic Cemetery in Fort Wayne. Bob was truly a role model for his children and grandchildren and leaves behind an enduring legacy of love, friendship and support that will be dearly missed by all who knew him. Preferred memorials to St. Charles Borromeo Church.
