Robert J. Hartenstein, 81, of Fort Wayne, died Thursday June 12, 2025 at Parkview Regional Medical Center. Bob was born in Youngstown OH on July 30, 1943, the son of (the late) Robert A. and Irene (Smith) Hartenstein. He served his country proudly in the US Army during the Vietnam Era and on December 16, 1972, Bob married Kathleen (Berdy) Hartenstein; Kathy survives along with their children; Tracy Newgent of Malvern PA and Matthew (Robin) Hartenstein of Fort Wayne; grandchildren, Robert Newgent of Malvern PA, Landon (Mackinsie) Hartenstein of Bluffton, and Charlotte Hartenstein, Isabelle Hartenstein and Dominic Hartenstein, all of Fort Wayne, and a great-grandson, Callum Hartenstein. Bob is also survived by sisters, Judith Lobaugh of Canfield OH and Joan Graff of Cleveland OH; brother, Michael (Meg) Hartenstein of Pittsburgh PA, and brother-in-law, Ira Kannal in Ohio.

In addition to his parents, Bob was also preceded in death by a sister, Karen Kannal.

Bob was a member of St Joseph Catholic Church – Hessen Cassel and was devout in his faith. He was a 4th Degree member of the Knights of Columbus and was the Charter Grand Knight of the St Joseph Hessen Cassel Council, and a member of the American Legion Post 296. Bob retired in 2008 as a broker and financial advisor at Wells Fargo.

The Funeral Mass for Bob will be celebrated at 11:00am Thursday June 19, 2025 at St. Joseph Catholic Church-Hessen Cassel, 11337 Old US 27 South, with visitation from 10-11am in the church.  Visitation also on Wednesday from 4-8pm at Divine Mercy Funeral Home, 3500 Lake Ave. Bob will be laid to rest in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery-Hessen Cassel, with military honors.
