Robert A. Smeltzley, 74, of Fort Wayne, died Sunday, December 21, 2025.  Bob was born in Fort Wayne on October 23, 1951, the son of the late Clifford and Marie (Roffelsen) Smeltzley. He graduated from Bishop Luers High School with the Class of '71; he continued his studies, earning his college degree and also served his country proudly in the US Air Force.  On July 3, 1982, Bob married Susan (Anderson) Smeltzley; she survives along with their children, Chad Smeltzley, Justin (Olivia) Smeltzley and Amber (Deven) Dicks, all of Fort Wayne, Rianne (Bradley) Biehl of Schaumburg IL and John (Tricia) King of Garrett; his brother, Bill (Cindy) Smeltzley and sister, Sandy Berghoff, both of Fort Wayne, Anni (Dave) Rondot of South Whitley; sister-in-law, Carol Smeltzley of Fort Wayne; 16 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents, Bob was also preceded in death by his brother, John Smeltzley and his brother-in-law, George Berghoff.

Bob was a member of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton parish; the Jack Brinker American Legion Post 409, the Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie #248, and AMVETS Post 33. He enjoyed camping, attending NASCAR races and playing golf, especially at Chestnut Hills Golf Club where he was a member.  In past years he worked at Fairview/Donald Ross Golf Club and was also a member there. Bob was an avid Euchre and Poker player. An additional love was bowling, having achieved multiple 300 and 800 scores over the years. Bob initially met his future wife, Susan at a midnight bowling event at Wayne Recreation/MVP Lanes.

The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:00am Tuesday December 30, 2025, in St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church, 10700 Aboite Center Road. with visitation from 10-11am in the church. Visitation is also from 4-7pm Monday at Divine Mercy Funeral Home, 3500 Lake Ave. with the Rosary at 3:30pm. Burial in Catholic Cemetery. The family's preferred memorials are St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church or Parkview Home Healthcare & Hospice.
