Carl J. Jenkins, 89, of Fort Wayne, died Thursday September 18, 2025. Carl was born on February 18, 1936 in Lackawanna, NY and was raised in Falmouth, Massachusetts. After high school, Carl came to Fort Wayne to attend college and remained in Fort Wayne. He served proudly in the US Army National Guard from 1953 – 1958.
On July 14, 1962, he married Judith M. (Waltke) Jenkins, whom he met through a Diocesan CYA group. Judy survives after 63 years of marriage, along with their sons, David (Julie) Jenkins of Glenview IL, Richard (Tamara) Jenkins and Michael (Shelli) Jenkins, both of Fort Wayne, and John (Jenni) Jenkins of Fishers; their grandchildren, Cory Jenkins of New Britain CT, Matthew (Kelly) Jenkins of Western Springs IL, Christopher (Emily Richards) Jenkins of Chicago, Daniel Jenkins of Glenview IL, Kalie (Pierce) Scott of McCordsville, Josh (Jada Brown) Jenkins of Indianapolis, Aaron Jenkins of San Francisco CA, and Kathryn (Reggie) Davis of Fort Wayne; great-grandchildren, Rylee Jenkins, Sullivan Davis and Charlie Jenkins with another "on the way".
Carl retired in 1986 from International Harvester after 31 years with the company. He was a member of St Therese Catholic Church, the Indiana FOP Wayne Lodge 14, and UAW Local 57. He was also a talented artist who was known for producing impressive design features and tilework when assisting on remodeling jobs. Carl truly enjoyed the time he spent with family & friends. With his New England heritage, he always enjoyed taking his family to Cape Cod for vacations.
The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:00am Wednesday September 24, 2025 at St. Therese Catholic Church, 2304 Lower Huntington Rd. with visitation from 10-11am in the church. Visitation is also on Tuesday from 4-7pm at Divine Mercy Funeral Home 3500 Lake Ave. with the Rosary at 3:30pm. Entombment in Catholic Cemetery. The family's preferred memorial is Eleos Hospice Care, 4432 Ardmore Ave Unit B, Fort Wayne, IN 46809.
