Kratzman
September 25, 1940 – September 27, 2025
Carl W. Kratzman, 85, of Fort Wayne and Jimmerson Lake, died Saturday September 27, 2025 at Parkview Regional Medical Center. Carl was born in Fort Wayne on September 25, 1940, the son of the late Robert F. and Mary E. (Charlewood) Kratzman. After high school, he attended Purdue University, and on June 26, 1965 he married Sylvia (Blaising) Kratzman, who survives along with their children, Kevin (Julie) Kratzman and Lori (Robbe) Trowbridge, both of Fort Wayne; grandchildren, David (Taylor Gerhart) Kratzman of West Lafayette, Tommy Kratzman and Beau (Alice) Trowbridge, both of Fort Wayne, and Sam Trowbridge of Nashville TN, and great-grandchildren Theo, Ellie and Josie Trowbridge.
Carl retired from Slater Steel in 2002, after 40 years with the company. He was a member of St Charles Borromeo Parish and was devout in his faith. He was a member of the US Coast Guard Auxiliary, and the Fort Wayne RC Boat Club; he enjoyed travel, music and playing the piano and accordion, but his greatest joys in life were the times he spent with his family & friends, boating, snowmobiling at the lake, and keeping up with friends from the "Slater Alumni". Carl was also community minded, and he volunteered often at the Grabill Food Bank as well as at The Cedars Retirement Community.
