Carol A. Herman, born on September 9, 1939, in Defiance, OH, passed away peacefully from natural causes on June 19, 2026. She was a long-time resident of Fort Wayne, and recently Franklin, TN, Carol was well-known for her warm spirit and dedication to her family and friends.
She married her husband, Carl F. Herman on April 4, 1959, in Ohio. Carol spent her career as an insurance manager in the medical industry, where she touched the lives of many with her professionalism and caring demeanor. She worked for the Fort Wayne Medical Education Program for twelve years, and then Parkview Physician’s Group for six years. She was a member of Saint Vincent de Paul Catholic Church in Fort Wayne.
She is survived by her son, Alan (Rona) Herman of Medina, OH, daughter, Lisa (Tom) Schanbacher of Leo, IN, daughter, Theresa (Brent Coil) Herman of Franklin, TN, her grandchildren; Zach (Nic) Herman, Alexandra (Nicholas) Brand, Mitchell Schanbacher, Maxwell, Sydney, and Collin Coil, a great-grandchild, and a sister, Joyce (Wayne) Grime of Stryker, OH.
Carol is preceded in death by her husband Carl F. Herman, her parents, Daniel J. and Berna (Boff) Coressel; brothers, James Coressel, Richard Coressel, and David Coressel, and sisters; Deloris Coressel, Sister M. Danielle Coressel, Eileen Brittain, and Lois O’Connell.
Family and friends will gather to celebrate Carol's life and share their memories together. A funeral Mass will be held at 10:30am Saturday, July 11, 2026, at Saint Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, 1502 E. Wallen Rd., Fort Wayne. There will be an hour prior visitation. There will also be a time of visitation held at Divine Mercy Funeral Home-Cedar Canyons, 1986 W. Cedar Canyons Rd., Huntertown, IN, on Friday. July 10, 2026, from 4:00pm-6:00pm. A rosary will be prayed at 3:30pm. After the Mass, a burial will take place at Highland Park Cemetery and Mausoleum, 2403 E. Wallen Rd, Fort Wayne, IN.
Memorial contributions may be made to Mother Teresa Catholic Church Building Fund, Nollensville, TN.
Carol's kindness, laughter, and love will be deeply missed by all who knew her. In her honor, let's cherish the moments we shared and carry her spirit with us always. More details about the services will be shared soon.
