Obituary

Catherine Maria Schubert, 59, of Fort Wayne, died Monday February 16, 2026, at Parkview Randallia Hospital. Cathy was born on October 20, 1966, in Dearborn Heights, MI, the daughter of (the late) David M. and Patricia A. (Barrett) Schubert. She was also preceded in death by her brother, Paul, with whom she shared the same birthday.

Cathy lived with Down Syndrome and was undaunted by her limitations. She loved to swim, hook rugs, and was always ready for a party. Her ability to express her emotions and her capacity for empathy were heroic.

Survivors include her sisters, Marianne (David) Farnbauch of Fort Wayne, and Elizabeth (Michael) Berning of Cincinnati OH; brothers, , David (Pamela) Schubert, Jr. of Locust Grove VA, Thomas (Karen) Schubert of Novi MI, Matthew (Susan) Schubert of Geneva IL and several nieces, nephews and grand nieces and nephews.

The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:30am Monday February 23, 2026, in St Charles Borromeo Catholic Church, 4916 Trier Rd. with visitation from 9:30-10:30am in the church. Burial in Catholic Cemetery.
