Charles David (Tyke) Bitler passed away at home on Saturday, November 18th.

Charles was preceded in death by his mother, Georgianna M. Bitler; his father, David C. Bitler; his aunt, Virginia M. Braun; his uncle, C. Robert Braun; and his granddaughter, Isabella M. Fern.

He is survived by his wife, Chris Bitler; his son, Andrew (Gina) Bitler; his daughter, Abby (Josh) Fern, his sister, Barbara (Randy) Kirby, his grandchildren, nieces, and a nephew.

Charles was the President and CEO of Midwest America Federal Credit Union until his retirement in 2008. He was a loving husband to his wife, Chris, and they enjoyed many years together at both their Fort Wayne home, and at Lake Tippecanoe. Together, they shared a love for their many dogs.

Charles was a loving dad, grandfather, and brother. He loved his family and animals and enjoyed many good times with them.

He loved being at the lake, boating, fishing, and cooking. Charles (Tyke) was a man with great integrity, humor, a zest for life, and a great faith in God. He will be missed by all.

A memorial funeral Mass was held at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church. Interment will be at the Catholic Cemetery at a later date.

Memorials can be made to FW22, which is a local organization which provides support and assistance to veterans in many areas, including suicide prevention, PTSD and TBI.
