Christopher "Chris" A. Lomont, age 61, of New Haven, IN passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, August 19. 2025. Born September 9, 1963, he was the son of the late James and Gloria (Laycoff) Lomont. Chris honorably served his country in the United States Army for four years. He was a dedicated farmer his entire life, working on the long-standing family farm. Chris enjoyed traveling, boating at Lake James, hunting, and grilling out. He was great with tools, and there wasn't anything he could not fix. Chris also raised the best sweet corn around. He had an outgoing nature and loved to talk to people and make friends wherever he went. Chris will be fondly remembered as someone who took pride in everything he did, including fostering genuine relationships within his community. Above all, he loved his family and enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren. Chris' absence in their lives will be felt every day.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 30 years, Sharon Lomont; daughters, Tina Rorick, Linsey (Josh) Leitch, Audrey (Zachary Rorick) Lomont, and Becky (Spencer Sharrar) Lomont; stepsons, Josh Stice and Aaron (Amber) Stice; 3 grandchildren; 5 step grandchildren; 4 step great-grandchildren; sisters, Kathy (Layne) McDonald, Julie (Keith Ferguson) Rouches, Jackie Barr, and Suzie (John) Burkhart; and an abundance of extended family and friends. Chris was preceded in death by his parents.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, August 29, 2025, at St. Louis Besancon Catholic Church, 15535 Lincoln Hwy. East, New Haven, IN 46774 with visitation one hour prior. Visitation will also be held from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, August 28, 2025, at Divine Mercy Funeral Home, 3500 Lake Avenue, Fort Wayne, IN 46805. Burial will be at St. Louis Besancon Cemetery with Military Honors. Condolences can be left at www.divinemercyfuneralhome.com for the family.
