Cyril John “Murdock” Cameron unexpectedly but peacefully passed away at home with his family on Wednesday January 17th. Murdock was born on September 1st in 1935, the youngest son of Marion and Edward Cameron’s twelve children. In 1956, he enlisted in the Army and served in Germany until his honorable discharge in 1958. Once home, he worked alongside his brothers at R&A Plumbing and joined Plumber’s and Steam Fitters Local Union 166. Always fun loving, Murdock enjoyed golf, fishing, hunting, classic cars, Cubs baseball, traveling, listening to music and singing. He was proud of his Scottish heritage and a true film buff who knew all the classic movies, their starring roles often quoting famous lines. Murdock’s tenderness and compassion for animals gave many pets a loving home throughout his lifetime. An impeccable dresser with great taste, those who knew him felt fortunate to call him friend. Above all, Murdock loved God and his family. He was greatly loved and will be dearly missed. Murdock was preceded in death by his parents Marion and Edward Cameron; his sisters Amy Cameron, Mary Gill, Annie Pape and Margie Dippold; his brothers Edward “Junior” Cameron, Jay Cameron and Finley Cameron. He is survived by brothers William and Alex Cameron, his twin sister Sylvia Masbaum Valentine, youngest sister Minnie Weaver and his nieces and nephews. Murdock’s favorite prayer was the Act of Contrition: O my God, I am heartily sorry for having offended Thee. I detest all of my sins because I dread the loss of Heaven and the pains of hell but most of all because they offend Thee my God who art all good and deserving of all my love. I firmly resolve with the help of Thy grace to confess my sins, do penance, and amend my life. Amen.
