Daniel Martin Kimmel, 68, of New Haven, Indiana, passed away at home on July 18, 2026, surrounded by his family after an extended illness. A graduate of Woodlan High School, Daniel began working as a press operator at Preferred Printing at age 18 and remained with the company for more than 40 years. He later worked in maintenance at General Mills Foods for several years before retiring. He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles, Navy Club and Veterans of Foreign Wars, Post #2457. Spending time with family and friends was important to him and he also enjoyed riding his Harley Ultra Classic. He loved gardening and growing tomatoes, peppers and the best pickles.

Daniel Martin Kimmel was born on December 21, 1957, in Fort Wayne, the son of Robert and Marilyn (Trzynka) Kimmel. He married Lisa Messmann on August 6, 1983, at Lake James Lutheran Church and she survives.

Also surviving are his mother, Marilyn Kimmel, three daughters; Amanda Kimmel of New Haven, Cassandra (Marty Compton) Thomas and Angel Walls, both of Fort Wayne; one son, Dale (Alisha) Kimmel, of New Haven, thirteen grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, one sister, Karen Beckstein, of Uniondale, Indiana, his mother-in-law, Marilyn Messmann, and his two best friends; Ed (Karen) Potts and Sam Shaheen. He was preceded in death by is father, Robert, and father-in-law, Kenneth Messmann.

A celebration of Daniel’s life will be held on Saturday, July 25, 2026, beginning at 12 noon at Howard Bandelier VFW Post #2457, 12700 Dawkins Road, New Haven, Indiana 46774.
