Darrell Rex Richmond, 83 of Harlan, IN passed away January 14, 2024, after a courageous battle with cancer. Rex was a remarkable outdoorsman who embraced the beauty of nature throughout his adventurous life. His heart belonged to the great outdoors where he found joy in hunting, fishing, trapping and the wonder of birds and trees. His cherished Minnesota cabin was a sanctuary of love and tranquility for him. For the past few years Rex has joyfully attended Harlan United Methodist Church with his loving friend, Joyce Higgs, finding solace within its embrace. He is survived by his only sister, Marquita Hertig, nephew Rick (Cathy) Hertig, niece Kim (Kirk) Davis, five great nephews, nine great-great nieces and nephews, two aunts and many cousins and friends, all of whom will miss him. He was preceded in death by his parents, Darrell and Lucille Richmond, long-time companion Sharon Freiburger and brother-in-law Don Hertig. Per Rex's wishes, there will be no formal services. Memorials may be made to Harlan United Methodist Church, 16434 SR 37, Harlan, IN 46743. Burial will be in Scipio Cemetery.
