David W. Winters, age 83, of Fort Wayne, IN passed away on Friday, October 18, 2024.  Born on August 5, 1941, he was the son of the late Wayne Winters, Gladys (Chandler) Ely and Harold "Fritz" Ely.  Dave graduated from Central Catholic High School in 1960 and worked at G.E. for 33 years before retiring in 1996.  When not working, he enjoyed hunting, fishing, and golfing.  Dave spent most of his winters on the ice and summers on Jimmerson Lake.  His playful, ornery spirit will be missed by family and friends alike!

Left to cherish his memory are his long-time companion, Doris Ott; children, Pam (Chris) Cole, Bob Winters, and Christy (Barry) Hand; grandchildren, Jenny (Gabe) Johnson and Naomi Johnson, Shannon Cole, David Cole, Rebecca (Chris) Rearick, and Mark Pruden; siblings, Laura Colpitts, Jim (Sandy) Ely, Steven, Keith, James, and Donna Lee Winters.  Dave was preceded in death by his wife, Marlene; his parents; sister, Sharon (Gene) Malone; and brother Donald Winters.

Visitation will be held for friends and family from 3:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 24, 2024, at Divine Mercy Funeral Home, 3500 Lake Avenue, Fort Wayne, IN 46805.  A private burial will be at Catholic Cemetery, Fort Wayne.  Condolences can be left at www.divinemercyfuneralhome.com for the family.
