David Resler, 75, of Fort Wayne, Indiana, passed away on July 6, 2026, on his 75th birthday.
David was born on July 6, 1951, to Ralph Resler and Bonnie Patton. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brothers, Timothy and Danny.
David proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corps, a chapter of his life that remained a great source of pride. He also deeply honored his Cherokee heritage and beliefs. His Cherokee name was Searing Cloud, and through his name David carried a profound respect for nature, tradition, and the values that shaped his life.
As an environmental engineer, David dedicated his career to protecting and preserving the natural world. His work reflected his respect for the environment and his desire to leave a better world for future generations.
A quiet and private man, David found joy in reading and had a lifelong passion for history and playing music (with is favorite song being Behind Blue Eyes by The Who). He was always eager to learn and enjoyed expanding his knowledge through books. Though he often kept to himself, those who knew him understood his thoughtful nature and quiet strength.
David is survived by his daughters, Allison Klinglesmith, Sarah Hollman, step daughter Natalie Kissick, and several grandchildren who will carry his memory forward.
In accordance with David's wishes, no funeral or memorial service is planned.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in David's name to a VA Hospital to support the care of America's veterans.
David will be remembered for his faithful service to his country, his dedication as an environmental engineer, and his pride in his Cherokee heritage.
