Diane K.
Abbott
Feb 16, 1939 — Jun 16, 2026
Fort Wayne
DIANE K ABBOTT, 87, of Fort Wayne, was called to her next life on June 16, 2026. Born February 16, 1939, in Monroeville, IN, she is the daughter of Kerm and Theresa Weisman and sister to two brothers: Tom and Steve. They lived on Railroad Street until moving to Tillmans to a home with more land and an inside toilet when Diane was in the third grade and attended Saint Louis Besancon Church and school.
Once out of high school, Diane loved working as a secretary for ITT. Following a devastating car accident, she attended a trade school to rebuild her life. It was there that she met the love of her life, Roger Abbott, a Marine readjusting to civilian life. Roger was eager to start a family. They were married on December 28, 1963, and three children came quickly.
Roger and Diane are founding members of Our Lady of Good Hope Catholic Church. They enjoyed other hobbies, but their strong faith in the Lord saw them through many ups and downs. After just shy of 40 years, Diane had to say goodbye to her beloved. She then lived in a Yellow Apartment (her little yellow house) for 20 years before becoming a resident of Saint Anne’s Home and Retirement Community. Diane’s sweet light, gentle ways and sense of humor blessed so many and will be forever held in our hearts.
Surviving are her children; Deborah (Steve) Hillman, Monica (Larry) Wells and Michael Abbott, three grandchildren; Laura, Matthew (Melissa) and Eric Hillman, two great grandsons; Gabriel and Theodore, and one brother; Tom Weisman of San Antonio, Texas.
