Dolores “Dodie” Alter, age 97, of Fort Wayne, IN passed away peacefully on Wednesday, July 22, 2026. Born in Duluth, MN on March 5, 1929, she was the daughter of the late Lawrence and Theda (Zimski) Goneau. Dodie was a dedicated homemaker, raising six children. Her family was the most important aspect of her life, and she was a proud grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother.

Left to cherish her memory are her children, David (Linda) Alter, Richard (Debra) Alter, Stephen (Elizabeth) Alter, Jon Alter, and Michael (Alysia) Alter; 14 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. Dodie was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Alter; daughter, Barb (Tony) Gatton; and daughter-in-law, Nan Alter.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, July 30, 2026, at Our Lady of Good Hope Catholic Church, 7215 St. Joe Road, Fort Wayne, IN 46835 with visitation one hour prior.
