Dolores B. Helmsing, 95, of Fort Wayne, died Wednesday August 26, 2026, at Lutheran Life Villages at Inverness. She was born in East Chicago, IN on September 1, 1930, the daughter of (the late) Michael and Thecla (Puskar) Durovcik. After high school, Dolores earned her Bachelor of Nursing degree and began a 41-year nursing career, serving at St Joseph Hospital, Irene Byron Healthcare and St Anne Home, retiring in 1993. A member of St. Jude Catholic Church, Dolores volunteered with the funeral dinner committee as well as a volunteer secretary for the Diocese.

In addition to her parents, Dolores was also preceded in death by her daughter-in-law, Bonnie Meyers; and sisters, Mildred Hozie and Marcella Bednar.

She is survived by her son, James E. Meyers, Jr. of Aurora IL; daughters, Carla (Douglas) Davis, Sue (Matt) Laudadio, and Faye Meyers, all of Fort Wayne; seven grandchildren and fifteen great-grandchildren.

The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:30am Friday September 4, 2026 in St. Jude Catholic Church, 2155 Randallia Dr. with visitation from 9:30-10:30am in the church.
