Donald P.
Gregg
November 26, 1939 – March 2, 2026
Donald P. Gregg, age 86, of Fort Wayne, Indiana, passed away on Monday, March 2, 2026 surrounded by his family.
Don was a graduate of General Motors Institute and earned his master's degree in electrical and mechanical engineering from the University of Toledo. He retired from Raytheon. Don enjoyed racing cars, as well as building and fixing cars, and working on home improvement projects. He was the original gamer who loved computers and was a proud member of the Apple Club. He also enjoyed genealogy, space, and science.
If something was broken, we called him — and he was there. He was the steady, capable handyman everyone depended on. A man of few words, and even with failing hearing, he somehow listened better than anyone else. Known for his quiet sense of humor, fist bumps, and genuine kindness, he was truly a friend to everyone he met. You could also always count on him to say yes to dessert — especially ice cream — a simple joy he never passed up. Most of all, he was always present for his children's and grandchildren's events, showing his love simply by being there. He was greatly loved.
Don was born on November 26, 1939, in Bay City, Michigan, the son of Donald C. and Josephine (Zbin) Gregg. Don was the eldest of eleven children, with six brothers; Doug, Dennis, Bobby, Melvin, Johnny, and Greg, and four sisters; Joanie, Janet, Susie, and Carolyn.
Don celebrated 56 years of marriage with his beloved wife, JoElla Gregg, who survives.
Surviving in addition to his wife are his children Jannine (Scott) Scheuren of Oconomowoc, Wisconsin, Jennifer Williams of Fort Wayne, and Daniel (Analilia) Gregg of Fort Wayne; six grandchildren, Adam, Samuel, Elisabeth, David, Matthew, and Henry; and four great-grandchildren, Everett, Patty, August, and Chapel (on the way).
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, March 12, 2026, at 11:00 A.M. at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church. Visitation will be held for one hour prior to the service, beginning at 10:00 A.M. in the church. Interment will be in Catholic Cemetery.
Memorials are requested to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
