Donald "Don" L. Stabler, of Fort Wayne, Indiana passed away October 29, 2024, at Lutheran Hospital, surrounded by his family and friends. He was 70 years old.
Don was born on August 28, 1954, to Don and Betty Stabler. He was the oldest of 8 children. Don married his high school sweetheart, Diane Bonkoski, on October 21, 1972. Together they raised 4 children.
Don was a graduate of Bishop Luers High School. He went on to work for the City of Fort Wayne as a meter reader and then moved to the United States Postal Service as a letter carrier for over 30 years. Don loved bowling, camping, Notre Dame football, and the Green Bay Packers. He also loved decorating his house for Christmas every year. He could fix just about anything from computers to cars to garbage disposals. And if you ever needed to find a deal on Amazon, he was your guy! His favorite activity was spending time with his family…especially his 9 grandkids, Kaitlin, Allyson, Breanna, Rylee, Isaac, Elijah, Gemma, Chase, and Bryce. He was the best grandpa, ever!
Don is preceded in death by his parents, Betty and Don and sister Mary (Stabler) Burton. He is survived by his wife, Diane; his children, Veronica Emmett; Donald J. (Courtney) Stabler; James (Ashley) Stabler; and Zachary (Natalie) Stabler; his 9 grandchildren; 5 sisters and 1 brother; and several nieces and nephews.
Services will be held at 11:00 am on Thursday, November 7, 2024, at Divine Mercy Funeral Home, 3500 Lake Avenue, Fort Wayne, IN 46805, with visitation beginning at 10 am. Visitation for family and friends will be held from 4pm to 7pm on Wednesday, November 6, 2024, at the funeral home .Burial will follow at Catholic Cemetery, Fort Wayne. Memorial donations can be to Humane Fort Wayne or the American Diabetes Association. Online condolences can be submitted at www.divinemercyfuneralhome.org.
