Doris J. Bermes, age 93, of Fort Wayne, passed away peacefully on Monday December 8, 2025, in her home. Mrs. Bermes was a lifelong resident of Fort Wayne and retired from Magnavox. She worked at the Franciscan Center for over seventeen years and continued to volunteer at the Center in retirement, totaling over thirty years of service. She was a faithful member of St. Therese Catholic Church was a member of the Franciscans and the Blue Army World Apostolate of Fatima. Doris enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren, playing cards and volunteering in other areas.

Doris Jean Bermes was born on June 30,1932, in Fort Wayne, the daughter of Leo and Dorothy (Hippenhammer) Beckman. She married Charles Bermes on October 1, 1949, in Fort Wayne and he preceded in death in 2005.

Survivors include two sons; Charles "Chuck" Bermes, Jr. and Ricky Bermes; seven daughters; Diane Bermes, Rita Harness, Carol (Don) Clark, Debbie (Tim) Murphy, Patricia (Mark) Veerkamp, Julie Bermes, and Barb (Shane) Pickens; one sister, Linda (Mike) Coil; one brother-in-law, Larry Plues; twenty-six grandchildren; fifty-six great-grandchildren; and many great-great-grandchildren. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by one brother, Richard Beckman; four sisters, Rosie Renninger, Mary Bangert, Sandra Pleus and Barbara Smith; a son-in-law, Larry Harness; two grandsons, Jeff Krider and Timothy Bermes; and three great-grandchildren.

Visitation for Doris Bermes will be held on Monday, December 15, 2025, from 3:00 - 7:00 P.M. at Divine Mercy Funeral Home, 3500 Lake Avenue, Fort Wayne, Indiana, with recitation of the rosary at 2:30 P.M. in the funeral home. Mass of the Resurrection will be held on Tuesday, December 16, 2025, at 10:30 A.M. at St. Jude Catholic Church with Reverend Daniel Scheidt officiating. Visitation will also be held for one hour prior to the service in the church beginning at 9:30 A.M. Interment will be in Catholic Cemetery.
