Obituary

Doris V. Brager, age 99, of Fort Wayne, IN passed away on Tuesday, June 23, 2026, at St. Anne Retirement Communities. Born on October 28, 1926, she was the daughter of the late Anthony and Loretta (Wyss) Berg. In 1949, Doris married Edmund Brager. They were together 36 years until Bud’s passing in 1985. She worked for over 10 years at GE/BAE in Fort Wayne until her retirement.

When not working, Doris enjoyed quilting, fishing at the lake, and volunteering at nursing homes assisting the residents. She loved spending time with her family and friends at Big Turkey Lake. Doris was a great cook and was legendary in her family for making homemade pizza. She also loved being a grandma to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Devout in her beliefs, Doris prayed the Rosary daily. Her faith was the cornerstone of her life.

Left to cherish her memory are her children, Ronald (Diane) Brager, Jennita (Michael) Matasci, Dale (Jane) Brager, Betty Lou Prather, and Kenny (Ada) Brager; 18 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; son-in-law, Ric Bookmiller; and daughter-in-law, Linda Brager. Doris was preceded in death by her husband, Edmund “Bud” Brager; sons, Edmund and Thomas Brager; daughter, Lana Bookmiller; her parents; 7 siblings; grandson, Chad Brager; and great-great-granddaughter, Anastasia Brager.
