Obituary

Doris A. Profeta, 77, of Fort Wayne, died Friday January 19, 2024 in Granbury, Texas. Doris was born in Fort Wayne on November 10, 1946, the daughter of (the late) Elvis and Loretta (Moder) Smith. She graduated from Central Catholic High School with the Class of '64 and was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church. She enjoyed Bible study, dancing, and following Notre Dame football and IU basketball, and she was an avid fan of Bobby Knight.

In addition to her parents, Doris was also preceded in death by her husband, Barry Profeta; her sister, Mary Hoger and two brothers, Larry Smith and Jim Smith.

She is survived by her daughter, Julie (Lenny) Shores of Granbury TX; sons, Earl Profeta of Cleveland OH and Scott (Zonia) Profeta of Riverside CA; brothers, Don (Kim) Smith of Fort Wayne, Edward Smith of Fort Wayne, and seven grandchildren.

Mass of Christian Burial 10:00am Thursday January 25, 2024 in the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception, 1101 S. Calhoun St. with visitation from 9:00-10:00am in the church. Visitation is also from 5-8pm Wednesday January 24, 2024 at Divine Mercy Funeral Home, 3500 Lake Ave. Burial in Catholic Cemetery.
