Obituary

Duane E. Rysman, 90, of Fort Wayne, passed away Friday, December 6, 2024.

He was born on November 18, 1934 in Superior, WI to the late Toivo and Violet Rysman Sr.

Mr. Rysman honorably answered his country's call and served in the United States Army.

In 1955, Duane, married the love of his life, Barbara and together celebrated 62 wonderful years of marriage until her death in 2017.

Duane spent his life as a musician, specifically playing and teaching accordion. He was well known by his students as "Mr. D". He, along with his band, The Echoes, played at many venues all over the tri-state area. In his free time, Duane enjoyed woodworking, but his passion always returned to music.

Duane was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He will be always remembered as being very humble and kind.

He is survived by his children, Lorrie (Kerry Doepke) Cayot, Valerie (Bill) Fairbanks, Vicki (Phil) Fike, Alan Rysman, and Eric Rysman; 9 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren with 2 on the way; and a brother, Richard.

Also preceding him in death were siblings, Barbara, Toivo Jr., and Dale.

A Memorial Calling will be held on Saturday, January 18, 2025 from 12 p.m. until 1 p.m. at Divine Mercy Funeral Home, 3500 Lake Ave., Fort Wayne with a service beginning at 1 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Catholic Cemetery.

Memorials may be directed to Saint Jude's Children's Research Hospital.
