Dwyine F. "Dewey" Allgood, 88, of Fort Wayne, died Monday December 4, 2023 at Parkview Regional Medical Center. Dewey was born in Evansville on August 8, 1935, the son of (the late) Griffin and Thelma (Bryant) Allgood. The family moved north and Dewey graduated from New Haven High School with the Class of '55. He played football, basketball and ran track, and he enjoyed several State championships. Dewey served his country proudly for several years in the Indiana Army National Guard. He retired from International Harvester/Navistar in 1985 after 30 years with the company. Dewey was a member of Grace St. John's United Church of Christ and was an avid sports fan; he especially enjoyed Indiana University basketball and football. Dewey was "hands-on" and able to fix or build almost anything; he assisted his family building their summer cottage at Lake Gage; very detail-oriented, he insisted that projects be done correctly and properly.

Dewey is survived by Doris Allgood, his wife of 57 years; his brother, Marion (Bessie) Allgood of Fort Wayne, and several nieces and nephews, including Debra (Dennis) Adams and Raye Ann (Jeffrey) Jacobs, both of Fort Wayne, and several great-nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Jerry Allgood, and sisters, Mary Lou Scroghum and Veronica Gatchell.
