Obituary

Edward Grant Harris, lovingly known as "Grant," passed away on July 9, 2026, at the age of 83.

Grant was born on May 31, 1943, in Grass Creek, Indiana, to Walter and Odel Harris. He graduated from Logansport High School in 1961. Shortly after high school, he met the love of his life, Cinda Kathrens. The two were married on February 1, 1963, and shared a lifetime of love, devotion, and countless cherished memories together.

Grant began his career in law enforcement in Logansport, serving as a deputy sheriff under his brother, Sheriff Rex Harris, for several years. He later changed career paths and entered the trucking industry, which led him to move to Fort Wayne, where he sold semi-trucks until his retirement in 2008.

Those who knew Grant knew of his deep love for bass fishing and golf. He was happiest on the water, always hoping to catch that next big bass. Grant and Cinda especially loved spending time at their lake home on Coldwater Lake, where they created many treasured memories with family and friends. Whether he was working, fishing, golfing or enjoying time with loved ones, Grant's greatest joy came from his family.

He is lovingly survived by his two daughters, Stacy Harris (Larry Wood) and Kara (Ray) Tople; his grandchildren, Sara (Joey) Gibbs, Olivia Duffin, Grant (MacKenzie) Jagger, and Lauren (Stephen Smith-Guitard) Jagger; and his great-grandchildren, Zach, Damian, and Gavin Gibbs, Max and Athena Jones, and Adalyn and Colson Jagger. He is also survived by his sister, Judy Frame, his brothers, Steve Harris and Ted Shriver, and sister in law Jane Toland.

Grant was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Cinda Harris; his mother, Odel Shriver; his father, Walter Harris; and his siblings, Frankie Seehase, Jerry Zouble, Fredia Couch, Nancy Samuels, Harold Harris, Bruce Harris, Ralph Harris, and Rex Harris; mother and father in law Mable and Loren Kathrens and brother in law Carl Toland.

A private family burial will be held at a later date.

Grant's legacy of hard work, love of family, and passion for fishing will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
