Elaine A. Newport, 81, of Fort Wayne, died Wednesday March 13, 2024. She was born in Fort Wayne on August 14, 1942, the daughter of (the late) Andrew and Cecilia (Trabel) Minich. Elaine graduated from Central Catholic with the Class of '60. On April 18, 1964, she married James E. Newport. Jim survives along with their children; Suzie (Dean) Stephen, Dianne (Fred) Horne and Scott Newport; grandchildren, Timothy (Tracy) Horne, Brian Horne, and Christopher Horne; and great granddaughter, Anastasia Horne, all of Fort Wayne. Elaine is also survived by her brother, Steven (Janie) Minich of Fort Wayne and sister, Janet (Dave) Chrzan of Naples FL. In addition to her parents, Elaine was also preceded in death by a sister, Gloria Minich.

Elaine was a member of Our Lady of Good Hope Catholic Church, who cherished the time she spent with her family & friends; she enjoyed fishing, playing golf and especially loved travelling with Jim; they have visited all of the lower 48 states together. She was a wonderful wife, mother and grandmother, who will be dearly missed. Elaine's family would like to express their sincere & heartfelt thanks to Heartland Hospice, for the wonderful care, dignity & kindness extended to Elaine and her family.
