Eleanor Jean McBride, 84, of The Villages, Florida died peacefully on Wednesday, July 2, 2025 surrounded by her family. Eleanor was born in Fort Wayne on May 30, 1941, the daughter of (the late) Cletus and Dorothy (Urbine) Junk. She graduated from Central Catholic High School with the Class of '59 and then attended the University of St Francis.
She was married to her husband, Richard McBride, for 63 years. In 1966 they moved to Hamden, CT, where Eleanor graduated from Quinnipiac University, and was employed as an auditor for the Department of Revenue Services for the State of Connecticut. After retiring, they returned to Indiana and their home on Royer Lake, until moving to The Villages, FL in 2004.
Eleanor is survived by her loving husband and her four devoted daughters, Susan (James) DeLong of Hamden, CT, Laura (James) Andersen of The Villages, FL, Sarah (Fred) Gargano of East Haven, CT; and Kathleen McBride of Woodinville, WA; her grandsons, Ryan and Nicholas Schloss of North Carolina; sisters Janet Peden and Nancy Murphy of Fort Wayne; sister-in-law Sharon Junk of Avilla and many cousins, nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Eleanor was also preceded in death by a sister, Patricia Kelly, brothers, Donald and Gerald Junk, and brothers-in-law, Larry Kelly, Michael Peden and Patrick Murphy.
Visitation is 10-11am Saturday September 20, 2025, at Divine Mercy Funeral Home, 3500 Lake Ave. with the Rosary and Prayers at 11:00am. Graveside services follow at 1130am in Catholic Cemetery.
