Everett Matthew Espy, 91, of Fort Wayne, died Friday July 17, 2026 at Heritage Park. He was born July 16, 1935, in Akron (Summit Co.) OH, the son of the late Everett Eugene Espy and Anne K. (Amma) Espy. Everett served his country proudly in the US Marine Corps and on June 13, 1959, he married Joann (Schimmoeller) Espy, who survives after 67 years of marriage, along with their children; daughters, Cindy (Frank) Adkins and Kristine (John) Phelps; sons, Mark (Marylou) Espy, Kevin (Joy) Espy and John (Kerrie) Espy, all of Fort Wayne; grandchildren, Michael (Lili) Espy of Fort Wayne, Matthew (Ting) Espy in Michigan, Justin (Jennifer) Adkins of Fort Wayne, Brittnay (Thomas) Nava of Phoenix AZ , Tyler Adkins of Fort Wayne, Hunter (Alexus) Espy of Woodburn, Jaxon Espy of New Haven, Brandon (Allie) Phelps of Fort Wayne, Chase (Shea) Phelps of Fort Wayne, Kaden (Lilly) Espy of Ft. Campbell, KY and 7 great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, Everett was also preceded by his brothers, Robert Espy, Donald Espy and David Espy.
Everett retired in 1994 from BF Goodrich after 36 years with the company. He was a member of St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church, the American Legion Fort Wayne Post 47, and the Huntertown VFW Post 11314. He enjoyed wintering in Cocoa Beach FL, and he especially enjoyed the time he spent with his family & friends, either at regular morning breakfast spots, or attending the grandkid’s sporting and other events. Everett was meticulous about his cars and could often be found detailing and polishing them to perfection. He was a good husband, father, grandfather and friend, who will be lovingly remembered and greatly missed.
Service arrangements are currently pending at Divine Mercy Funeral Home, 3500 Lake Ave.
