Gail D. Montgomery, 76, passed away on August 26, 2025, in New Haven, IN.

Gail taught elementary and secondary education before retiring from Fort Wayne Community Schools in 2003.  In retirement, she found peace in her vegetable garden, delight in bird watching, and camaraderie on the golf course and at the bridge table. Above all, Gail cherished her role as a grandmother, devoting her time and heart to her grandchildren, who were the light of her life.

Gail is survived by Bruce Montgomery - husband, of New Haven; Geoffrey (Crystal) Montgomery – son of Casper, WY; Amanda (Kevin) Schaller – daughter; Zackary Schaller - grandson, Hadley Schaller – granddaughter of Fort Wayne, IN; Diane Hertges-sister, of LaPorte, IN.

Gail is preceded in death by her parents Geneveive and Dominick Bienas, and her sister Barbara Cotter.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:30am, Monday, September 8, 2025 at St. Charles Catholic Church 4916 Trier Rd., Fort Wayne, IN 46815 with visitation one hour prior. Visitation will also be 2-5pm Sunday, September 7, 2025 at Divine Mercy Funeral Home, 3500 Lake Ave., Fort Wayne, IN 46805

Memorial donations can be made in Gail's name to Cystic Fibrosis Foundation or the American Cancer Society.
