Gaylord L. Brake, 83, of Fort Wayne, passed away Sunday December 10, 2023. The Connersville native was born November 20, 1940, the son of (the late) F. Joseph and Neoma (Anderson) Brake. He married the love of his life, Barbara (Malcolm) Brake on February 14, 1974. Gaylord, or "Lordy", as was his nickname, was a railroader who retired in 2000 from Norfolk & Southern after 43 years with the company. He enjoyed working outside, tending to the yard, and also liked to follow racing, especially NASCAR and Indy Cars. He was also known to enjoy testing his luck with the Lottery. Lordy's greatest joy in life however, was his family; he truly cherished the time spent with his family and friends.

Gaylord is survived by Barbara Brake, his wife of 49 years, and their children, Tracy Renee "T.R." Baral of Fremont, Vicky (Randy) Radke of South Bend, Debbie (Bruce) Fleck of Harlan, Tracy Brown of Fort Wayne, Annette Koldewey of Fort Wayne and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Gregory Brake; grandchildren, Travis Brake and Tabitha Sproat, and all of his siblings.

There are no services currently scheduled, however a Celebration of Life will be planned for a future date. Arrangements were through Divine Mercy Funeral Home, 3500 Lake Ave. The family's preferred memorial is Parkview Home Healthcare and Hospice, 1900 Carew St., Ste 6, Fort Wayne, IN 46805.
