Giuseppe “Joseph” Barile left us peacefully and unexpectedly on August 2, 2026, at the age of eighty-nine, due to natural causes. Joseph was born on February 26, 1937, in Macchiagodena, Italy, to parents: Felice and Clementa (Terriaca) Barile. He immigrated to America with his spouse of forty-eight years, Giovanna (Ciocca) Barile, settling in Fort Wayne, Indiana, where he built a life around family and friends. Joseph was a dedicated worker for over thirty years at the local General Electric followed by twenty-three years, part time in maintenance, at the Dupont Road YMCA. He enjoyed spending time at the lake with his family and had many interests that included cooking, gardening, and playing the accordion. In his early years, he enjoyed organized distance running to include qualifying for the Boston Marathon.
Joseph was a loving father to his daughter, Sandy (Dale) Budzon, and son, Mike (Becky) Barile. Six grandchildren also survive him: Alex (Sylvia) Budzon, Olivia (Brad) Allen, Loren (Brook) Barile, Emily (Pete) Metzinger, Elizabeth (Jackson) Grahovac, Claire (Hasim) Odobasic and ten great-grandchildren, as well as several nieces and nephews. He cherished his family above all else and left behind a legacy of love and kindness that will be remembered by all who knew him.
He was preceded in death by his spouse Giovanna (Ciocca) Barile, parents; Felice and Clementa (Terriaca) Barile, and siblings: Domenica Perrella, Antonio Barile, and Nicola Barile.
The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 AM Friday August 7, 2026 at Our Lady of Good Hope, 7215 Saint Joe Rd., Fort Wayne. with visitation from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM in the church. He will be laid to rest at Catholic Cemetery, Lake Avenue, Fort Wayne, IN 46805. Memorial contributions may be made to ALS Association or Church Masses.
In this time of sorrow, we gather to celebrate Joseph’s life. He will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by all who knew him.
