Grazelia "Grace" Gomes went home in the hands of God surrounded by her loved ones at home on Sunday, September 22, 2024.

Grace was born in Bari, Italy to Michealangelo and Rosario Liberio. At the age of 16 she migrated with her loving family to Chicago, where she spent most of her life.

Grace was employed at the Westin Hotel in Chicago for many years before retiring in 2009. Shortly after retiring, she made her final home in Fort Wayne.

Grace was an amazing woman who spent her life taking care of others. She loved her family and friends selflessly. Grace loved to cook her traditional Italian foods and serve the community in every way possible. She would never let anyone leave without a full belly. She was a devout Catholic and loved attending services as well as serving the Franciscan Monk Community whenever possible. She was a genuine woman.

Grace was a loving Daughter; a wonderful Mother to her son, Joseph Michael Gomes; a loving Partner to her lifelong companion, Joseph S. Gomes; and a loving Sister to her siblings, Nicola Liberio and Anna Liberio.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and a brother, Nicola.

She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Joseph and Cassie Gomes of Fort Wayne; sister, Anna (Fernando) of Plano, Texas; her partner, Joseph S. Gomes of Fort Wayne; grandchildren, Emma and Madison Haynes of Angola; and three great grandchildren whom she adored, Oaklyn, Aniya, and Naleia of Angola.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Thursday, September 26, 2024 at 10:30 a.m. at Saint Jude 2130 Pemberton Dr, Fort Wayne with calling one hour prior. Calling will also be Wednesday, September 25, 2024 from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. with the recitation of the Most Holy Rosary at 4 p.m.

Memorials may be directed to St. Jude House in Chicago.
