Greg Lewis Thiele, 63, of Fort Wayne died March 2, 2023 at Lutheran Hospital, Fort Wayne, IN. Greg is survived by his wife Debra, son, Anthony (Katy) Mauricio, daughter, Ashley (Mike) Mauricio, father, Sam Thiele, sister, Kim (Andy) Uhl, Brothers, Jeff (Lori) Thiele and Todd (Victoria) Schneck, grandchildren, Emmalynn, Sebastian and Leo and several nieces and nephews. He also leaves behind his mother-in-law Marilyn Vardaman, sisters-in-law Dianna Keller and Dorenna (Mike) Gospodarek. He was preceded in death by his mother Carole Byrt and Stepmother Sharon Thiele.

In early life, his home was Ossian, IN. His family later moved to Morristown, IN where he graduated from Morristown High School in 1977. Lived in Scottsburg, IN before moving to Fort Wayne. He was employed as an automotive paint technician for years before working as a general handyman. And most recently worked at Habitat for Humanity ReStore prior to retiring.

Greg was loved by his family and had a very special camaraderie with his friends at Mad Anthony Brewing in Fort Wayne. He was content to sit with his IPA in mug 109 and listen to everyone's story, or give advice for someone's home or car improvement project - but not when his beloved Packers were playing. He was also always equipped with a dad joke that everyone had probably heard already.

A lifelong fan of the Green Bay Packers, he had fond memories of going to games with his dad and brother, then later with his nephews. More recently he would reluctantly go to Colts games with his wife. He played rugby in the early 80s with the Fort Wayne Rugby Football Club.

Greg enjoyed many outdoor activities including camping at Ohiopyle and music festivals in Michigan with Bruce and Sandy Lehman. Mountain biking with his cousin Dan Stauffer. Deer and Turkey Hunting with his brother and Steve Gregor. Mushroom hunting at Fox Island (see donations below). And vegetable gardening with his grandkids/gardening assistants Emmalynn, Sebastian, and Leo who will miss him dearly.

Funeral Service will be at 10am, Thursday, March 9, 2023 at Divine Mercy Funeral Home, 3500 Lake Ave with calling one hour prior. Visitation will be Wednesday, March 8, 2023, 4 to 7 pm at the funeral home. Burial will be in Catholic Cemetery, Fort Wayne, IN.
