Gregory A. Newport, 60, of Fort Wayne passed away Friday, March 22, 2024. Greg was born April 9, 1963 in Fort Wayne, IN and was the son of the late Robert Newport and Patricia Troyer. Greg attended Queen of Angels school and graduated from Bishop Dwenger High School in 1982. He was a member of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church.

Greg started riding and showing horses as a youth. His love and enjoyment of horses never ended, meeting his wife of 37 years, Dawn McKinney, at a Palomino Horse Show and later sharing his love and knowledge of horses with many. His employment included Car Salesman, Manager, Customer Service Representative, Certified Nursing Assistant, and Home Health Caretaker. He thoroughly enjoyed giving horse riding lessons and assisting those with disabilities. Greg was happiest when he was helping others and spending as much time as he could with his grandchildren.

Greg is survived by wife, Dawn of Fort Wayne; daughter, Casey (Brian) Harper of Fort Wayne; son, Cody (Laura) Newport of Goshen; Grandchildren, Everett, Henry, Adeline, Jean, Theodore and Rose; sister, Tisha (Bill) VanAuken and stepmother, Louann Newport.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00 am Tuesday, April 2, 2024 at St. Vincent dePaul Catholic Church, 1502 E. Wallen Rd, Fort Wayne, IN 46825, with visitation one hour prior. Visitation will also be 2-4pm and 6-8pm Monday April 1, 2024 at Divine Mercy Funeral Home, 3500 Lake Ave., Fort Wayne, IN 46805.

Burial will be in Catholic Cemetery, Fort Wayne, IN. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital.
