Hugh Warren Hosbein Jr., age 81, of Fort Wayne, IN passed away peacefully, at home surrounded by his family.  Born on December 14, 1943, he was the son of the late Hugh Hosbein Sr. and Betty Jo Burns.  Hugh served his country honorable in the United States Air Force. He worked as a drug and alcohol counselor at Park Center in Fort Wayne, helping others and sharing his experiences with having achieved 38 years of sobriety. Hugh also worked at a BINGO hall in Fort Wayne.  When not working, he enjoyed fishing and anything to do with model trains.  Family was the most important thing to Hugh.  He loved his family above anything else and cherished the time he spent with his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.  In his later years, Hugh was still always on the move, riding his motorized scooter, shopping at Walmart (his favorite place), and finding bargains at garage sales.  Nothing slowed him down, and Hugh enjoyed life to its fullest.

Left to cherish his memory are his husband, Kevin Payne; daughter, Julia Hosbein; stepchildren, Nick, Tosha, Tyler, and Paige; grandchildren, Trent, Felicia, and Jamela; 14 step-grandchildren; great-grandchildren, Autumn and Peggy; sisters, Linda, Ruby, Dora, and Vicki; brother, Tom Hosbein; and numerous nieces and nephews.  Hugh was preceded in death by his wife, Barbara Newhous; his parents; and sister, Renell Hosbein.

A funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, January 6, 2025, at Divine Mercy Funeral Home, 3500 Lake Avenue, Fort Wayne, IN 45605 with visitation beginning at 12:00 p.m.  Memorials can be written to Alcoholics Anonymous (www.aafortwayne.org) or to The National Pancreatic Cancer Foundation (www.npcf.us) in Hugh's name.  Condolences and fond memories can be shared at www.divinemercyfuneralhome.com.
