Obituary

Jack C. Shutt, W9GT, 79, of Fort Wayne, died Sunday June 23, 2024, at Parkview Randallia Hospital. Jack was born in Huntington on December 23, 1944, the son of (the late) Carl C. Shutt, Jr. and Mary Katherine (Misner) Shutt Koontz. He served his country proudly in the US Air Force and earned his Bachelors Degree from Indiana Wesleyan University. Jack retired in 2001 as the former Senior Engineer – Radio & Video Proposal Manager at GTE.

Jack was an avid HAM radio enthusiast and moderator of the Little Red Barn. He had an interest in history, whether through his membership in the Ft Wayne Railroad Historical Society or working on the restoration of his 1950 Chevrolet pickup truck. Jack cherished the time he spent with family & friends and caring for his dog "Skippy". He was a good husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend. He will be greatly missed.

He is survived by his wife, Elissa L. Shutt; his daughters, Krista (Jim) Thomas of Spencerville and Laura (Mike) Smith of Fort Wayne; stepsons, David Luke (Stacy) Landis of Fort Wayne and Matthew Vaughn (Laura) Landis of Buffalo NY; grandchildren, Evan Thomas, Keaton Broerman and Julia Broerman, all of Fort Wayne; step-grandchildren, Jacob Smith, William Smith, Lila Landis, Ki Landis, Mason Landis, and Hadlee Landis, all of Fort Wayne, and Kole Landis and Kaitlyn Landis in New York; sisters, Karen K. (Dennis) Hankey of Lakeland FL and Janice (William) Hammack of Plano TX. In addition to his parents, Jack was also preceded in death by his first wife, Marlene Shutt.

Funeral Services 1:30pm Saturday June 29, 2024 at Divine Mercy Lake Avenue Funeral Home, 3500 Lake Ave. Visitation is scheduled on Saturday from 10:00am-12:00pm and 1:00pm-1:30pm. Burial at Scipio Cemetery in Harlan with military honors.
