Obituary

James "Jim" Alan Hohman of Fort Wayne, IN passed away peacefully on August 5, 2024, surrounded by family. Jim was born in Fort Wayne on December 14, 1944, and graduated from North Side High School in 1963. Jim served his country proudly as a member of the US 1st Squadron 9th Cavalry of the 1st Air Calvary Division in Vietnam earning the Bronze Star with Valor and the Air Medal. After returning from Vietnam, Jim took a job at GTE where he worked for 35 years before retiring. Jim married the love of his life, Barbara Bogdon in 1969. They were married for 54 years and had two children and five grandchildren. Jim enjoyed golf, bowling, and spending time with his family and friends. He enjoyed learning about and working with new technology and was able to build his own home computer in the early 1980's at the kitchen counter. Nothing made him happier than to help his neighbors, and even take the time to set up new computers for family, friends, and any that expressed an interest. Jim was known to family and friends as the "computer expert". In his retirement he became involved in genealogy research, putting together an extensive family tree for both his and his wife's family. He also became involved in the American Legion and enjoyed participating in military reunions across the U.S.

He is survived by his wife, Barbara; children, Christina (Gregory) Brinker, Douglas (Jeanne) Hohman; grandchildren, Hannah, David, Madeline, Dean and Vivienne; brother, Richard (Su) Hohman; and several nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, Norbert and Mary Irene Hohman; brother, Thomas Hohman; sister-in-law, Sandra and his nephew, Michael Hohman.
