James Robert Till, 78, of Fort Wayne, IN, peacefully passed away on April 13, 2024, surrounded by family. Born on May 19, 1945, in Fort Wayne, Jim was the 2nd of 11 children born to the late John and Jean (Moore) Till. He was raised in Harlan, IN and can even trace his family line all the way back to John Chapman (Johnny Appleseed). Jim retired from Slater Steel and INDOT. He enjoyed golfing, gardening, and spending time with family. He loved being a grandfather and cherished the time he spent with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was a long-time parishioner of St. John the Baptist and a member of the Knights of Columbus. He will be remembered for his fantastic sense of humor and his ability to tell stories and jokes. Jim is survived by his wife of 53 years, Jeanette (Sarrazine) Till, daughter, Cristina (Gordon) Hathaway of New Haven, sons, Robert (Ann Marie) of Fort Wayne, Richard of New Haven, John of Durham, NC, Thomas (Mary) of New Haven, Michael (Kathleen) of Fort Wayne, and David Till of Fort Wayne; 22 grandchildren; 3 step grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and 8 siblings. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother Michael; and sister Patricia. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 20, 2024, at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, 943 Powers St., New Haven with visitation one hour prior. Visitation will also be held from 4 to 8:00 p.m. on Friday, April 19, 2024, at Divine Mercy Funeral Home, 3500 Lake Ave., Fort Wayne, with a Rosary beginning at 3:30 p.m. Burial will be at Highland Park Cemetery, Fort Wayne, at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, April 22, 2024. Memorials can be written for Mass Intentions at St. John the Baptist.
