James E. Schumaker Sr., 90, of Fort Wayne, passed away Tuesday, November 7, 2023 at Parkview Randallia Hospital in Fort Wayne.

He was born on March 12, 1933 in Bippus to the late J. Earl and Gladys M. (Wagner) Schumaker.

Mr. Schumaker honorably answered his country's call and served in the United States Army During the Korean War.

James was a graduate of Manchester University. He was employed by Food Marketing where he worked in sales for 20 years. James then went on to retire from JAT of Fort Wayne after 25 years as a truck driver. Following retirement he volunteered as a driver for the American Red Cross Blood Bank.

In his free time, James enjoyed puzzles, coin collecting, and traveling.

He is survived by his son, Dennis E. Schumaker; stepchildren, Susan (Greg) Muncy, Debra (Michael) Ruch, Toni (James) Thompson, and Steven DeCarlo; 8 step-grandchildren; 12 step-great-grandchildren; and a brother, Thomas Schumaker.

Also preceding him in death were his wife, Irene; son, James E, Schumaker Jr.; and brother, Robert Schumaker.

A graveside service will take place Monday, November 13, 2023 at 11 a.m. at Catholic Cemetery, 3500 Lake Ave., Fort Wayne.

In lieu of flowers, the family request memorials be made to St. Mary's Soup Kitchen or the American Red Cross.
